Ohana (means family)

I can’t go to Disney without eating at my favorite resort restaurant Ohana, which is located at the beautiful Hawaiian inspired Polynesian Resort. The Polynesian is easy to get to since its a monorail resort. It is opened daily for both Breakfast and Dinner and both have totally different experiences.

Breakfast Character Experience

Breakfast is served daily from 7:30-12pm. When you first arrive, you will be whisked aside to take a photograph with my favorite guys Mickey and Pluto. Then you will be seated at your table and your waiter/waitress (introduced as cousin, since ohana means family) will serve you warm delicious pineapple-coconut bread. Then the rest of your breakfast will come out in a platter served family style

Breakfast Menu ( all you care to enjoy)

  • Hua Paka (Scrambled Eggs)
  • Uala Kahiki (Fried Potatoes with caramelized onions)
  • Pua’a (Pork) sausage & bacon
  • Micky Shaped Waffles
  • Seasonal fruit
  • Biscuit
  • Yummy POG Juice (passion,orange & guava)
The Pantry Family with Lilo.

While you are enjoying your delicious breakfast, you will be greeted by Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto dressed in their Hawaiian attire. They will spend time with you to take pictures and sign autographs. So make sure you have those autograph books and cameras ready

Now we are going to talk about my favorite meal, DINNER!!

DINNER (Family Style)

Dinner at Ohana is a total different experience. It is Churrascaria type style of service. Dinner is  served also family style but it is a little bit different from Breakfast . First thing the waiter/waitress (cousin) will start you off with the pineapple-coconut bread.  They will bring out a bowl of Mixed Greens Salad with a Lilikoi dressing. Next the waiter will bring out a platter/bowl with Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Ginger Sauce & Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings both served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces, Noodles tossed in a Teriyaki sauce & Stir Fried Vegetables. Then finally they will come around with Polynesian inspired meats that was grilled over an open fire pit. The Szechuan Sirloin Steak, Sweet and sour chicken and Spicy Grilled Peel-n-Eat Shrimp are served from 3 foot long Skewers.

If you have picky little eaters, do not fear as you will find that there is a separate kids menu with kiddos favorites like chicken tenders & grill cheese upon request.

I hope you have saved some room for dessert, which is delicious. You will be served Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode topped with banana and caramel sauce & kids are served brownies with a marshmallow and M&M topping

Entertainment

While you are enjoying your dinner,  you can listen to Storytellers playing the Ukulele. They also teach the children how to dance the hula. They also have coconut race where they use brooms to sweep the coconuts across the finish line.

Dinner is served daily from 3:30-10:00 pm.  If you happen to make  8-9pm reservations then you can request a window seat to get the breathtaking view of the Magic Kingdom Fireworks. Don’t forget reservations open 180 in advance.
